ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is Kayla and I am a Level 2 Certified Integrative Health Practitioner. I help people reach optimal health and wellness by teaching them how they can best support their body and to recognize what their symptoms are really trying to tell them. Growing up, I had always planned to go to medical school. I loved learning about anatomy and anything related to medicine. Once I got to college, I changed my major from pre-medicine to pre-physician assistant studies. With that as my number one goal, I gained a lot of experience in the medical field as an anatomy teacher's assistant, CNA, and a medical assistant. I also took an EMT class and volunteered at the hospital and a low-income clinic to gain medical and patient experiences. After graduating with my bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Health, I applied to two different physician assistant programs. I was offered an interview at my top PA school of choice. I practiced and studied different interview techniques and I was so ready to give it all I had. However, a couple weeks later I found out I didn't get in. |
I believe God's plans are so much bigger than what I could have ever imagined. Not even a couple weeks after I was rejected, I learned of what an Integrative Health Practitioner does. While one door was shut, another door was completely opened to something so much greater. I researched more into this career and realized this was EXACTLY what I was looking for in a job.
Not only could I help people get down to the root cause of whatever issues they might have, but I could help teach people ways to change their lifestyle to support and renew their body and their health. I always struggled with the idea of prescribing medications, had I become a PA, that would most likely give my patients additional side effects. But by becoming an integrative health practitioner, I will be able to teach people alternative methods that will help them much more in the long run. I believe that every part of our body works together and that if one system is off, it has the potential to throw off how the rest of our body functions. This often leads to imbalances in the body, which can result in any number of problems: inflammation, autoimmune diseases, gut issues, hormone and fertility problems, and the list goes on. The best part about integrative practices is that it can be applied and used by people that don't feel like anything is physically wrong. These practices help support your body from the inside out and help it to function at its optimal level. |
I have used these own integrative techniques for myself and for my family, and I can honestly say I have never felt better. While it is still a work in progress for even me, I know that each step I take to optimize my health and the health of my loved ones will continue to pay off both now and in the future.
